Chicago, IL

I adore Chicago. It Is The Pulse of America.
– Sarah Bernhardt

Chicago is famous for many things: the Willis Tower, deep-dish pizza, the first Ferris wheel, its baseball teams, the world's largest Public Library, and now, being one of the most active, friendly and growing gay and lesbian communities in the world. With its breathtaking Lakeshore skyline and twenty-mile lakefront park, its celebrated scientific and cultural communities, its myriad of shopping, dining and recreational opportunities, Chicago is a spectacular destination for all travelers. Chicago neighborhoods, like Lakeview and Andersonville, have become centers of gay and lesbian life, with commercial and housing gentrification turning already successful areas into flourishing scenes. Located on the Northside, in East Lakeview, the section commonly known as ‘Northalsted’, is always incredibly popular among gay men. The Andersonville neighborhood, farther north, has long been a lesbian enclave and this community is home to a number of lesbian-owned and women-friendly shops, restaurants and cafes.

Chicago is rebuilding neighborhoods and big sections of it’s downtown area. New office buildings and housing keep the city vital for it’s residents. If you want to escape the hubbub of the center city, take a stroll through refurbished Grant Park or go out to Ravinia to enjoy the world’s greatest music. Picnic on the grass or dine at a world-class restaurant within the Ravinia Gate. Once you have experienced a concert in the 3200 seat open air, covered pavilion, you will return over and over. Chicago has grown into a global center of business, culture and recreation that is open and inviting to the LGBT community. Dozens of museums offer a wide range of works featuring the work of the greatest artistic and scientific minds in the world. Chicago boasts thousands of shops with the Gold Coast’s upscale boutiques to the suburban outlet malls. Welcome to The Windy City. You just may find it’s your kind of town.
