Our history dates more than 30 years ago, when Hatoviejo was established in front of the 5 star Intercontinental Hotel. We wanted to provide the city with a cozy atmosphere, full with paisa culture and offer guests the best of Colombia?s traditional food and cuisine (Bandeja Paisa, Ajiaco, Sancocho, Mondongo, Sudado, etc.), complemented with other international dishes: barbecues / grills.
Short after, Medellín demanded more locations to please the downtown business executives and families. 10 years later, in the Oviedo shopping mall another location was opened and in october 2018 Viva Envigado opened in the south of the city. Today, all four continue in service and offer a wider menu including salads, soups, cazuelas, colombian desserts and a wide selection of wines.
During this time, Hatoviejo has been a reference in the sector for its delicious food, excellent service and comfortable spaces that evoke the most traditional Colombian architecture and the paisa culture. Today, Hatoviejo is recognized as one of the top restaurants in Medellín and Colombia.
Throughout the years that Hatoviejo has welcomed locals and tourists, it has received important prizes and recognitions like ?Best Restaurant in Antioquia? by La Barra magazine in 2011 and the Rosa De Los Vientos prize, granted by the Colombian Tourism Journalist Association.
Hatoviejo plays an important part in Medellín?s industry, with direct contact with small businesses and countrymen to guarantee the best and fresh ingredients, pro-environment politics (clic here) and as a member of important associations and companies that promote Medellín?s culinary culture and tourism.
