The Houston Museum of Natural Science began in 1909 as a small collection first housed in a city auditorium. Created in a city that has become known for exuberant exploration and unlimited curiosity, the museum?s eclectic collections have since grown into one of the most visited science and natural history museums in the country.

HMNS? four-story exhibition space includes the country?s largest paleontology hall and a fascinating variety of permanent exhibit areas that examine astronomy, space science, Native American culture, ancient Egypt, energy, chemistry, gems and minerals, seashells, Texas wildlife and much more. The campus includes the Cockrell Butterfly Center, Burke Baker Planetarium, and a giant screen theater while offsite is the George Observatory and a neighborhood Sugar land satellite museum.

The HMNS Museum Store is a way for patrons to bring home a ?piece of the museum.? Our 7000 square feet retail space includes a huge range of dinosaur, space, and butterfly gifts and toys along with tons of science kits and books. We also feature unique handmade items in our Global Design section, over 30 independent jewelry designers, a dedicated Cabinet of Curiosities concept store, and a wide selection of expertly sourced gems, minerals, and fossils.

As a privately funded institution, HMNS is dependent upon ticket sales, donations, and store revenue to stay in operation. 100% of store proceeds benefit the museum?s educational programming.
