Centre Bridge Inn
Original Structure Built in 1705
The Centre Bridge begins with the establishment of ferrying in 1700. The addition of the bridge in 1814 brought forth a great deal of activity to the village and started the social life of the Centre Bridge Inn. Before long the Centre Bridge Inn grew to include an ice house, a blacksmith shop and a large stone stable. A general store, called Connors, was built at the end of the bridge. While it is unknown when the construction of the canal began, it was completed in 1832. Over the next 100 years several disasters befell the Centre Bridge Inn, including a fire on Halloween night in 1932 in which the inn burned to the ground. In 1961, the Inn was rebuilt in Colonial Revival style of a Georgian Williamsburg Virginia Mansion. In the year 2000 current owner, Jerry Horan, purchased the Centre Bridge Inn. While maintaining the Inns history, changes have been made which have added to the charm and continually growing social life of the Centre Bridge Inn. Thank you and enjoy.
