The Real Mother Goose is the Pacific Northwest's largest contemporary fine American craft gallery featuring over 600 American artists? creations. Our collection includes handcrafted jewelry, art glass, ceramics, and exotic wood jewelry boxes all by the American Artists.
The Real Mother Goose has been supporting American Craft for nearly 50 years. The central focus of owners, Stan and Judy Gillis, has been their commitment to building relationships with customers and with the artists represented in the store. In 1971, the first Mother Goose store was opened in downtown Vancouver, Washington. Over the next 20 years they expanded to Washington square, downtown Portland and the Portland International Airport.
In both 1997 & 1998 NICHE magazine's poll of over 20,000 professional craft artists named The Real Mother Goose the nation's top craft retailer on the basis of its courteous and respectful treatment of artists, its extensive promotion and marketing of American crafts, and the time and energy it invests in supporting the craft community and mentoring emerging artists.
In 2017, the flagship store in downtown Portland closed, and in 2021 the Portland International Airport location closed. The Real Mother Goose is now exclusively online.
